LONDON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical has received a request for additional information from the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over its proposed acquisition of Rohm and Haas, the chemicals major said on Friday.

Complying with a 'Second Request' is usually very time-consuming and expensive, with firms tending to seek ways to reduce the time and expense involved, according to the FTC.

It was unclear whether the process - which requires the cooperation of antitrust authorities - would delay the takeover process.

Dow announced the $18.8bn acquisition of the US-based specialty chemical producer on 10 July 2008.
