Arch buys Rockwood's pool treatment business

LONDON (ICIs news)--US biocides company Arch Chemicals has acquired water treatment chemicals business Advantis Technologies from Rockwood Holdings, also of the US, for $130m (€91m), it said on Monday.

 

The business produces and markets non-chlorine based swimming pool, spa and surface water treatment chemicals, generating net sales of $71m in 2007.

 

Arch said it expected to achieve pre-tax synergies of $6m a year from integrating the business into its Arch Water Products segment.

 

"The acquisition of Advantis builds on our core biocides portfolio. This business will greatly complement Arch's existing capabilities in water treatment and present us with many exciting synergies," said Arch Chemicals CEO Michael Campbell.

 

The deal includes Advantis’ main production facility in Alpharetta, Georgia, and warehouses in Georgia, California and Wisconsin.

 

It was expected to close early in the fourth quarter subject to regulatory approval.
