NEW DELHI (ICIS news) – India’s Chemcel Biotech Limited (CBL) would commission its maiden biodiesel plant at Kondapalli near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh in September 2009, a company official said on Tuesday.

CBL has reckoned operational capacity of 6,000 tonnes/year on the assumption of the plant operating for 300 days a year. It is investing Indian rupees (Rs) 109.51m ($2.45m) on the project.

The company would source 20,000 tonnes/year of non-edible oilseed feedstock from its subsidiary Jetro Petro Biotech.

After its product is accepted by oil companies for 5% blending with high speed diesel, the company would increase production of biodiesel, he said.

CBL currently manufactures pesticides and biofertilizers.
