HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Formosa Plastics has shut down a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit at its Point Comfort plant in Texas for maintenance, according to a filing with state emissions regulators available on Wednesday.
The filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) said that the shutdown caused a small release of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).
Formosa did not specify how long the unit, specified PVC Reactor J, would be shut. The company did not respond to a call for comment.
The Point Comfort plant has a capacity of 625,000 tonnes/year of PVC and 560,000 tonnes/year of VCM, according to data from global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
