Equistar shuts Texas complex on Ike

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Equistar on Wednesday began to shut down its La Porte complex in Texas due to the threat of Hurricane Ike, the company said.

Equistar reported the shut-down to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Equistar has an olefins cracker in La Porte with 789,000 tonnes/year in capacity, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

A company spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

Equistar is a fully owned subsidiary of LyondellBasell.
