Perstorp plans DOP turnaround at Sweden plant

LONDON (ICIS news)--Perstorp Oxo AB plans to undertake a two-week maintenance turnaround at its 65,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) facility in Stenungsund, Sweden, from 15 September, said a company source on Friday.

The shutdown would have little impact on the lengthening European DOP market as demand for polyvinyl chloride and, therefore, DOP remained lacklustre, said market sources.

The plasiticiser, commonly known as DOP, is added to grades of PVC in order to make the material flexible.

PVC’s main end use is in the construction industry, which continued to suffer due to the downturn in the economy across much of northwest Europe.
