HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A number of energy and petrochemical company offices in Houston were expected to be closed or open only to essential personnel on Monday as a result of Hurricane Ike, the companies said on Sunday.
Many parts of Houston were without power and streets were littered by debris.
Mayor Bill White ordered a weeklong night curfew from 21:00 to 06:00 Houston time (02:00-11:00 GMT) for the entire city after police arrested a number of suspected looters, according to news reports.
Dow Chemical said its Houston Dow Center would be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
“Wednesday would be the earliest day for normal work hours, pending the availability of resources to bring the building back to operation,” Dow said.
ExxonMobil’s Houston area offices would remain closed to non-essential personnel on Monday.
