LONDON (ICIS news)--US phosphates exports in July 2008 have risen over the same month the previous year with diammonium phosphate (DAP) recording an export growth of 36%, while exports of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) more than doubled, the latest US government data said on Monday.
A report by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) showed that DAP exports had climbed 36% from 403,182 short tons in July 2007 to 546,968 short tons in July 2008.
The rise in DAP exports was attributed to strong Indian demand, where over 440,000 short tons were placed in July 2008, nearly double the quantity of July 2007.
MAP exports saw a dramatic rise, and more than doubled from 137,496 short tons in July 2007 to 347,792 short tons in July 2008.
The MAP export increase was due to several factors including strong Canadian demand. Over 160,000 short tons were exported to Canada in July 2008, nearly four times the quantity in July 2007.
