NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--The Indian government has granted environmental clearance to Wellknown Polyester Limited’s proposal to set up a partially oriented yarn (POY) unit as a backward integration facility, a government official said on Thursday.

The 900 tonne/day (315,000 tonne/year) POY plant would be set up at a cost of Indian rupees (Rs) 480m ($10.4m) in the Union territory of Daman, about 15 km from the chemical town of Vapi in Gujarat state.

The company would set up POY plant at the existing production site where the company currently produces fully drawn yarn (FDY) and drawn texturised yarn (DTY).
