SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s Samsung Petrochemical Co (SPC) will shut down its 700,000 tonne/year No 4 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) line at Daesan for two weeks starting 20 October, a company source said on Friday.
"The shutdown would be as scheduled, lasting two weeks," said the source, who added that the No 1 and No 3 lines at Ulsan remained shut.
The company idled the smaller, No 1 line of 200,000 tonnes/year in early July, while the 450,000 tonne/year No 3 unit was shut down towards the end of July following the near month-long turnaround of the No 2, 450,000 tonne/year facility at the same site.
SPC is the largest PTA producer in South Korea, with a total nameplate capacity of 1.8m tonnes/year.
