SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mitsubishi Chemical will shut down one of its two 330,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) lines in Indonesia for three weeks in November, a company source said Friday.

"The first line should be the one being shut for the maintenance, but I cannot be totally sure yet at this stage," said the source, who added that sales in the Indonesian domestic market had been stable.

"The rest of the market had been doing badly, but in Indonesia, so far so good because demand and supply are almost balanced with other producers [Polyprima and Pertamina] out of action," said the source.

Japan-headquartered Mitsubishi is one of the largest PTA producers in the world. Besides Indonesia, it has plants dotting Japan, South Korea, China and India.
