SHANGHAI(ICIS news)--PetroChina subsidiary Lanzhou Petrochemical plans to restart its 240,000 tonne/year No 1 ethylene cracker later on Friday after a delay following a scheduled month-long turnaround, a company source said.
“The No 2 cracker would also restart shortly after repairs,” he added.
“But the polyolefin units will not restart anytime soon,” the source said in Mandarin.
The cracker was shut down on 16 August with the restart slated for early September but it was delayed due to a hitch at its No 2 cracker.
The cracker’s derivative units include a 170,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit and a 60,000 tonne/year linear low density PE (LLDPE)/HDPE swing plant.
The company’s 460,000 tonne/year No 2 cracker and its derivative plants including a 200,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE) plant, a 300,000 tonne/year LLDPE/HDPE swing plant and a 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit at the same site shut down in the wake of technical problems in early September.
