LyondellBasell targets Texas restarts for next week

TORONTO (ICIS news)--LyondellBasell expects to progress with start-up procedures at most of its Texas Gulf Coast plants next week following their shutdown in preparation of Hurricane Ike, the petrochemicals major said on Friday.

 

“Start-up procedures will be in progress at most plants by next week, although full functionality could take longer to achieve at some sites,” it said.

 

An exception was the company's Beaumont plant, where inspections and assessments were continuing, it said.

 

Limited availability of feedstock and industrial gases continued to present a challenge to its sites and to others in our industry, LyondellBasell said.

 

“This, and transportation logistics, could initially limit our ability to return our plants to their pre-shutdown operating rates,” it said.

 

However, the company’s olefins plant at Corpus Christi, Texas, remained in operation, it added.

 

LyondellBasell’s chemical and polymer production sites in Texas include Bayport, Beaumont, Channelview, Chocolate Bayou, La Porte and Corpus Christi.
