SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China's Panjin Ethylene restarted its aromatics unit on 22 September, a few days after it resumed operations on the upstream 160,000 tonne/year ethylene cracker, said a company source on Monday.
The aromatics unit was shut down on 12 August in line with the cracker outage for a lengthy turnaround.
On-spec products have yet to be delivered, the source said, adding that “the feedstock is not supplied stably because the cracker just restarted one week ago, and it needs some time to supply all its downstream units”.
The unit has the capacity to produce 60,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 16,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 9,000 tonnes/year of xylene.
Panjin Ethylene is a subsidiary of Liaoning Huajin Chemical, located at Panjin city in northeastern
