HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) is starting a television campaign to show how biofuels can help the US achieve energy security, the ethanol trade group said on Monday.

The RFA will start airing two 30-second spots this week, both of which will focus on ethanol production in the small town of Hereford in oil-rich Texas.

“Hereford…with 1.5m cattle and two ethanol biorefineries epitomises the importance of ethanol to America’s energy and economic security,” said RFA president Bob Dinneen.

US ethanol producers are on the edge of an energy revolution but are rarely given the credit they deserve, Dinneen said.

The RFA also claims ethanol is being systematically attacked by the oil industry because of fears the biofuel will continue to gain market share in the US motor-fuel market.
