TORONTO (ICIS news)--Kemira will start up a research and development (R&D) centre at the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, Georgia, next summer, the Finnish chemical producer said on Tuesday.

The centre, which would employ 85 R&D professionals, was part of Kemira's target to consolidate 17 existing R&D sites into five global facilities by the summer of 2009, it said.

Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) was one of the top-rated research universities in the US, Kemira added.
