BP begins start-up of Texas FCC unit after Ike

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--BP Products began on Tuesday the restart of its Texas City fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit 1 in Texas, which was shutdown in preparation for Hurricane Ike.

The restart process is expected to be completed by 7 October, the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

FCCs are used to produce gasoline and refinery-grade propylene (RGP).

September RGP was last heard traded on 8 September at 55.50 cents/lb ($1,224/tonne, €832/tonne), according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
