LONDON (ICIS news)--The fourth-quarter Methanex European posted contract price (MEPCP) has been rolled over at €295/tonne ($434/tonne) with two of its customers, according to a Methanex company source.

“Most of the market was aligned for that number,” Philippe Arendt, director of marketing and logistics at the Canada-based producer said.

Methanex based its decision to keep the price stable on energy values edging down, the increased strength of the US dollar and recent developments in Asia.

“Demand is not as high as anticipated,” Arendt said, speaking about the situation in Asia.

The MEPCP, done on a free on board (FOB) Rotterdam basis, follows an earlier European contract price agreement between Helm and two of its consumers at the same price.
