Asahi Kasei to shut down No 3 SM unit in October

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Asahi Kasei Corp will turn around its 390,000 tonne/year No 3 Mizushima styrene monomer (SM) unit in October, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit is scheduled to go offline on 17 October and would be restarted on 14 November.

Asahi would operate its 320,000 tonne/year No 2 unit at the same location normally during this time.

Japanese producers include Asahi Kasei, Nihon Oxirane, Denki Kagaku, Mitsubishi Chemicals and Nippon Steel Chemicals.
