SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Typhoon Hagupit has weakened into a tropical storm as it made landfall over China’s southern province of Guangdong, where almost 30,000 people had been evacuated, said the China Meteorological Administration on Wednesday
“At 14:00 local time (06:00 GMT) the centre of the storm was located near Beihai City in Guangxi Hepu County with recorded wind speeds of 30 metres/second (108 kilometres/hour),” said the agency in a statement.
The storm’s strength is expected to weaken further as it continues to make its way inland, it added.
