LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Olefins has lifted its butadiene (BD) force majeure at its Cologne, Germany, plant following a period of stable production rates, a company source said on Wednesday.

In a letter to its customers formally lifting the force majeure, it said “BD supply remains extremely tight but we can confirm supplies, subject to mutually agreed timing, can return to our contractual monthly amounts”.

INEOS declared the force majeure on 2 July following technical difficulties which reduced operating rates at Cologne 4, the smaller of the two crackers operated by INEOS at the site.

INEOS has the capacity to produce 270,000 tonnes/year of butadiene at the Cologne site.

Earlier on Wednesday, Dow Europe lifted its BD force majeure at its plant in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, which had been in effect since late June.
