SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese benzene producer, Nippon Oil, has nominated its October Asian Contract Price (ACP) for benzene at $1,150/tonne (€782/tonne), $35/tonne lower compared to the previous month’s settlement, said a company source late on Wednesday.

On a cost and freight (CFR) Asia basis, the October nomination was 3% lower than the September settlement as crude oil and spot benzene values declined in the past month, the source said.

The company plans to negotiate and settle the October contract price next Tuesday, he added.

Benzene spot prices in Asia were assessed at $1,105-1,120/tonne FOB (free on board) Korea on Thursday, about $10-15/tonne lower than Wednesday, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
