BUCHAREST (ICIS news)--Romanian pesticide and plastics manufacturer Oltchim will cut production after a disruption in ethylene supplies from local producer Arpechim, a company source said on Thursday.

"Last week, Arpechim - which is our main supplier - declared force majeure on polyethylene [PE] supplies and as a result our production is now affected," said a company source, who decline to offer more details.

Oltchim draws its ethylene through a pipeline connected to Arpechim's 200,000 tonne/year ethylene steam cracker.

Arpechim said last week that its polyethylene production was expected to be down for almost one month.

Arpechim produces 30,000 tonnes/year of high density PE (HDPE) and 80,000 tonnes/year of low density PE (LDPE) at Pitesti, southern Romania.
