Many US Gulf refineries shut down, restarting

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Three US Gulf coast refineries remained shut down, five were restarting and eight were running at reduced rates due to hurricanes Ike and Gustav, the US Department of Energy (DOE) said on Friday.

In related news, the DOE said that it has delivered nearly 4m bbl of emergency supply oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Gulf coast refiners.

The latest deliveries from the DOE include a 500,000 bbl of crude oil to Citgo’s Lake Charles refinery in Louisiana and 150,000 bbl to Alon’s Krotz Springs refinery in Louisiana.
