MONTE CARLO (ICIS news)--Significant growth opportunities exist for specialty chemicals companies serving end-use markets in water treatment, food preservation and pharmaceuticals, said a senior official from Germany-based Brenntag, late on Sunday.
Rising living standards and more stringent regulatory requirements meant demand would increase steadily in mature markets, and more significantly in developing economies said Steve Holland, CEO of Brenntag Europe, on the sidelines of the European Petrochemicals Association (EPCA).
"It's completely driven by regulation so is impervious to the demands of the market as central and eastern Europe come into line with EU standards,” said
Food preservation was another growth area
"Protein-based products tend to require more products to aid food processing," he added.
