MUMBAI (ICIS news)--South Korea's polypropylene (PP) producer PolyMirae plans to use LyondellBasell’s metocene PP technology at one of its Spheripol lines at Yeosu in South Korea, it said on Monday.

LyondellBasell’s Spheripol PP technology offers its licensees an economical and suitable method to produce a wide range of premium quality PP products.

"As a key PP producer in the Asian market, PolyMirae is eager to maintain a leading technology position in the region by continuously having access to the newest and best technological tools for making outstanding products that serve our customers' needs," said CJ Park, CEO PolyMirae.

The PP technology license to PolyMirae covers the full range of homopolymers, random copolymers and heterophasic copolymers with significantly improved physical properties, the company said.

PolyMirae had also obtained a license extension from LyondellBasell to upgrade another Spheripol PP plant in Yeosu to produce new high performance PP grades, it added.

PolyMirae, a joint venture between LyondellBasell and South Korea’s Daelim, has four production lines with a capacity of about 700,000 tonnes/year using Spheripol technology at its Yeosu site .
