NewsFlashUS Oct benzene contract down 5%

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The US October benzene contract settled down 22 cents at $4.24/gal ($1,272/tonne, €878/tonne) on the back of lower crude oil and spot benzene values, aromatics trade sources said on Tuesday.

The September benzene contract previously settled at a record $4.46/gal FOB (free on board), 1 cent higher than August.

Benzene spot prices last week were in a range of $4.15-4.40/gal FOB HTC (Houston-Texas City), compared with $4.40-4.60/gal FOB HTC four weeks earlier, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
