SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Butadiene rubber (BR) contracts for the fourth quarter (Q4) rose $500/tonne from the third quarter due to soaring feedstock butadiene (BD) costs, producers said on Thursday.
The Q4 contract prices were settled at $4,000-4,200/tonne CFR (cost and freight) northeast (NE)
“We have no choice but to implement a significant increase for Q4 contracts due to the skyrocketing BD feedstock costs in the third quarter,” a BR producer said.
The feedstock BD prices rose by $400/tonne in the month of July alone to peak at $3,400/tonne CFR NE Asia in July, according to global chemicals market intelligence service, ICIS pricing.
