SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Arvand Petrochemical Co has delayed the start-up of its vinyls project at Bandar Imam, Iran, to the second quarter of 2009 mainly due to shortage of contractors, sources close to the company said on Thursday.

The vynils complex includes a 340,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) capacity, comprising 300,000 tonnes/year of suspension grade and 40,000 tonnes/year of emulsion grade PVC.

“Demand for PVC is robust from the construction, water supply and synthetic leather segments,” the trader added.
The complex would also include a vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plan and an ethylene dichloride (EDC) plant, with capacities of 340,000 tonnes/year each. A caustic soda line able to produce 635,000 tonne/year is also part of the project, a source said.
