SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) has shut down its titanium dioxide (TiO2) facility at Yokkaichi for a one-month scheduled maintenance, market sources said on Thursday.

The 160,000 tonne/year plant in central Japan was shut down yesterday and would likely be restarted in end-October, the sources added.

ISK’s plant in Singapore, which has an annual capacity of at least 54,000 tonnes, will operate normally during this period, they said.

ISK recently announced a $200/tonne price increase for fourth-quarter TiO2 in Asian markets on the back of higher energy and service costs.
