LONDON (ICIS news)--The European phenol contract price dropped €74/tonne ($103/tonne) in October due to weaker benzene prices, producers and consumers said on Friday.
Market sources confirmed the €74/tonne price fall for freely negotiated and formula related contracts, taking the pre-discounted contract number to €1,271-1,311/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), according to global market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
The October phenol settlement followed this month's benzene contract, which settled down €74/tonne at €797/tonne FOB (free on board) NWE on Friday 26 September.
