Yunnan Ruiqi to start new methanol unit mid-Oct

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Yunnan Ruiqi Chemical Co is expected to start production at its new 200,000tonne/year methanol facility in southern China by mid-October, a company source said on Monday.

 

Some commissioning tests had been successfully completed at the Yunnan-based plant, which uses coal as feedstock, the source added.

 

Trading in China was closed last week for the National Day holidays. Methanol prices were last assessed at $355-360/tonne CFR (cost and freight) China in the week of 22 September, according to global chemical intelligence service ICIS pricing. Domestic prices were reported at yuan (CNY) 3,000-3,180/tonne ex-tank.

 

Other methanol producers in China include CNOOC Kingboard Chemical Limited and Yanzhou Coal Industry Yulin Energy Ltd.
