LONDON (ICIS news)--The majority of Europe’s third-quarter polyacetal (POM) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) contracts settled at a rollover, buyers and sellers said on Tuesday.

Third-quarter POM prices were assessed at €2.70-3.15/kg ($3.65-4.26/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), unchanged from the second quarter, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

On the PBT market, prices were assessed at a rollover of €2.85-3.25/kg FD NWE for filled grade material and at €2.80-3.10/kg FD NWE range for unfilled. Flame retardant PBT remained at €3.35-3.85/kg FD NWE.

Across the engineering plastics market third-quarter contracts rolled over after buyers and sellers agreed that the published ranges incorporated all contract settlements.

However, consumers maintained that a rollover was achieved on the majority of contracts while sellers were adamant that increases of €0.40/kg within the confines of the published price ranges had been successful.

POM is a crystalline plastic often used for technical applications due to its strength, ductility and good machinability.

PBT is a semi-crystalline white or off-white polyester used in electronic and electrical, communications, fibre optics and the automotive industries.
