STOCKHOLM (ICIS news)--Chemicals company Kemira has completed negotiations to lay-off almost 300 workers in Finland and plans to cut another 700 jobs worldwide, it said on Wednesday.

Talks to make 298 workers redundant at Finnish sites in Oulu, Vaasa, Aetsa, Espoo and Helsinki had been concluded as part of a programme announced in August to net the firm €50m ($68m) in cost savings, the Finland-based company added.

Research and development activities would now be based in Helsinki, it said, a move that had led to walk-outs earlier in the year.

A support package was in place to help those that had lost jobs to get re-employment, the company added.

Kemira employs more than 10,000 workers worldwide.
