NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--Syngenta India Limited (SIL) is planning to expand its pesticides and intermediates plant at Santa Monica in Goa State to 12,650 tonnes/year from 8,700 tonnes/year at a cost of Indian Rupees (Rs) 800m ($16m), a government official said on Wednesday.
The project has not yet been granted environmental approval, the official added.
The government has asked the company to first comply with certain procedural directives and also to address issues raised at a public hearing on the project.
The project envisages manufacture of intermediate amino ethyl phenol and two technical-grade fungicides mandipropamid and ortho-substituted phenyl amide. Syngenta would also expand capacity of the seed-treatment insecticide thiomethoxam (technical-grade).
