MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia's gas giant Gazprom plans to build major gas-chemical hubs in the country's far east, the Energy Ministry said on Thursday.

The country's gas sector development blueprint till 2030, drafted by Gazprom, stipulated construction of four major gas processing centres in the Amur, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk regions.

The Amur gas-chemical complex, due to be built in 2016-2024, would have capacities to process 40-50bn cubic metres (bcm)/year of gas and produce up to 4m tonnes/year of polyolefins, according to the blueprint partially released by the ministry.

The Khabarovsk hub would process 30-40bn bcm/year and produce up to 3.3m tonnes/year of polyolefins, while Krasnoyarsk would have capacities of 12bn bcm/year and up to 1m tonnes/year of polyolefins and Irkutsk 5.5bn bcm/year and up to 500,00 tonnes/year of polyolefins, the Ministry said.

The Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk centres would be built in 2014-2017, while the Khabarovsk hub is due on stream by 2020, said the blueprint, without disclosing more details.
