SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s Tianjin Petrochemical plans to restart operations at its 340,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in the second half of October after a one-month turnaround, said a company source on Thursday.

The unit was shut down in late September due to maintenance at its upstream 410,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) plant, added the source.

“We expect to restart the PX and its downstream PTA plants in late October if everything goes well,” the source said.

The Sinopec subsidiary is located in the northern coastal city of Tianjin.
