TORONTO (ICIS news)--AkzoNobel has agreed to acquire part of Kao Chemicals' fatty amine business in Europe, it said on Friday.

“This transaction is in line with our strategy to focus on core markets and optimise the use of our manufacturing capacity,” said Tommy Ohlin, general manager of AkzoNobel’s surface chemistry business in Europe.

Akzo expected to complete the acquisition in the fourth quarter, it said, without disclosing financial terms.

Headquartered in Chicago, AkzoNobel’s surface chemistry business supplies specialty surfactants as well as synthetic and bio-polymers additives.
