LONDON (ICIS news)--Industrial output in the EU decreased by 1.1% in August year-on-year, while production of chemicals and man-made fibres rose by 0.2%, official statistics agency Eurostat said on Wednesday.
In the 15-member eurozone, industrial production fell 0.7% compared to August 2007, while chemicals production was 0.2% lower.
Month-on-month, the production of chemicals was up 2.1% in the 27-member EU and rose by 2.5% in the eurozone.
Total industrial production increased by 0.5% in August in the EU compared with July, and by 1.1% in the eurozone.
