US Tronox proposes TiO2 price hikes for Europe

HOUSTON (ICIS news)-- US pigment maker Tronox proposed on Wednesday European price hikes for titanium dioxide (TiO2).

Tronox announced an increase of €150/tonne ($205/tonne) for TiO2 sold in euro markets and a hike of $150/tonne for all grades sold in eastern Europe and Russia, effective on 15 October, or as contracts allow.

Tronox is the latest company to proposes TiO2 price increases for Europe.

On Monday, DuPont announced increases for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Kronos made a similar announcement on Tuesday.

Producers have uniformly cited the need to restore margins squeezed by elevated raw material and transportation costs.
