SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese producer, Sumitomo Chemical will shut down its 180,000 tonne/year caprolactam plant for a month-long turnaround from 20 October, a company source said on Tuesday.
A shortfall of about 15,000 tonnes will be incurred with the shutdown of both its lines.
The major regional producer runs two lines, a 95,000 tonne/year No 1 unit and a 85,000 tonne/year No 2 line in Niihama, western
The planned shutdown is not likely to have a significant impact on prices due to the prevailing weak demand, traders said.
