TORONTO (ICIS news)--Germany-based lubricants and specialties producer Fuchs Petrolub on Friday opened a new plant in Shanghai to meet growing demand in the Chinese market, it said on Friday.

Employing 145 workers, the 42,000-square-metre facility could be further expanded in line with rising market demand, it said, but did not disclose capacities in terms of tonnes or pounds per year.

So far, Fuchs had invested €10m ($14m) in the facility, it added.

Overall the company employs 320 workers in China. That market accounted for over 6% of its annual sales of €1.4bn in 2007, it said.
