SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s Qiwangda Haizhong plans to shut down its aromatics unit on Wednesday to complete expansion works, said a company source on Tuesday.

The shutdown would last around a month, the source said, adding the unit had been running at 60-70% of capacity since early October.

“We still have some inventory for selling,” said the source.

The aromatics capacity of the unit had been more than doubled to 70,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 40,000 tonnes/year of xylene, while its benzene capacity was unchanged at 60,000 tonnes/year, the source said.
