LONDON (ICIS news)--Borouge plans to build a logistics hub in Guangzhou, China, to handle and distribute polyolefins imported from its large-scale expansion in Abu Dhabi, the petrochemicals company said on Tuesday.

Due to be completed in 2010, the new facility would be contracted to Enpro, supplying 246,000 tonnes/year of plastics to China.

Borouge’s proposed expansions were currently on track to increase its Abu Dhabi polyolefins capacity to 2m tonnes/year from 600,000 tonnes/year by the middle of 2010.

“The Guangzhou logistics hub…will enable us to provide a fast, flexible delivery service to our customers,” said Abdulaziz Alhajri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers, the manufacturing arm of Borouge.

Borouge is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Austria-based plastics producer Borealis.
