HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Southern Chemical Company (SCC) on Wednesday nominated a US Gulf coast (USG) non-discounted methanol contract price for November at 146.5 cents/gal, a 5-cent drop from October.

The October FOB (free on board) USG (US Gulf) price was 151.5 cents/gal. which was down 3.5 cents from the September contract.

Sources said that slumping demand amid a slowing US economy provided the impetus for the price cut despite the shutdown of the 1.89m tonne/year M5000 methanol plant facility in Trinidad & Tobago.
