Chiba Styrene shuts down SM plant for turnaround

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese styrene monomer (SM) producer Chiba Styrene shut down its 290,000 tonne/year plant on Monday for a scheduled turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

 

The unit, located in Chiba, would be restarted at the end of November, the source added.

 

Chiba Styrene is a joint venture of Japanese majors Denki Kagaku and Sumitomo Chemical.

 

Other Japanese styrene producers include Asahi Kasei Corp, Idemitsu Kosan Co, Nihon Oxirane Co and Mitsubishi Chemicals.
