HOUSTON (ICIS news)--INEOS NOVA plans to restart its Texas City styrene monomer (SM) plant in Texas by the end of October, a joint venture partner said on Thursday.

INEOS NOVA’s 770,000 tonne/year Bayport plant and the 530,000 tonne/year Texas City plant were shut down because of Hurricane Ike, which hit the Texas coast in mid-September.

The Bayport plant restarted at the end of September, according to NOVA officials.

NOVA’s 50% share of third-quarter SM and polystyrene (PS) sales totalled 609m lb, down 20% from 766m lb a year earlier.
