EU August new orders down 6.7%, chems fall 0.7%

 LONDON (ICIS news)--Industrial new orders in the 27-member EU fell 6.7% in August year-on-year, while orders for chemicals and man-made fibres dropped 0.7%, the official statistics agency Eurostat said on Friday.

 

In the 15-member eurozone, industrial new orders decreased by 6.6% compared with August 2007 and for chemicals and man-made fibres declined by 1.8%.

 

Month-on-month, industrial orders fell by 1.4% in the EU and 1.2% in the eurozone. Orders for chemicals and man-made fibres were down 1.0% in the EU and 0.5% in the eurozone compared with July.
