SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Lee Chang Yung Chemical (LCY) might shut down its 140,000 tonnes/year styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in November if market conditions failed to improve, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We have not decided whether to shut down the plant but if demand continues to remain weak, we may consider it in November,” the source added.
The company has cut the operating rates of the plant to 50% this month.
SBS is used in the footwear sector and consumer demand has fallen due to the global credit crisis and the economic downturn.
