Japan chem production falls 0.6% in September

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s chemical production in September decreased at a seasonally adjusted rate of 0.6% compared with the month-ago period, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said on Wednesday.

 

In actual production terms, ethylene output in September decreased 12.5% to 530,391 tonnes month on month and down 13.6% year on year, METI said.

 

Production of propylene declined 11.4% to 441,917 tonnes in September from August, and decreased 8.6% from the same time a year before, it added.

 

The ministry’s index of chemical industry output, excluding drugs, was at 95.8% in September, according to METI. The index is based on 100 for the average production in 2005.
